An Authentic Beginners Guide to Weed Gummies

Weed gummies have taken the world by storm, leaving a host of questions about their effects, safety, and legality.

Dad Grass CBD Weed GummiesDad Grass Gummies Trio

If you’re new to popping this chewy sweet—the one that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling—you’ll want those questions answered.

One thing’s for sure; weed edibles are possibly the most delicious way to take cannabis products

However, even though they resemble something as innocent as pick-and-mix sweets, choosing high-quality edibles that work magic is far from easy.

Yet, with products that affect your health and wellness—you’ll want a no-nonsense approach.

Here’s where Dad Grass jumps in—we strive to make your life easier. So, if you want sensible answers to your questions, your search ends here.

We’ll help you get your hands on the best stuff so you don’t waste your time on subpar CBD-infused products. No deviation. Only a clean buzz.

Most importantly, we’ll provide information on state laws, potential drug interactions, the benefits of weed gummies, how you can select them, and more.

So, What Exactly Are Weed Gummies?

Weed gummies are edible cannabis products that look like gummies. They’re made using hemp or marijuana emulsions.

Similarly to cannabis cakes and drinks, CBD and THC gummies can alter the state of your mind and body once ingested. This is due to cannabinoids—chemical compounds found in Cannabis sativa plant species.

When cannabinoid acids are converted to their orally bioactive form, the result can taste great. Even better, their edibility makes the whole weed business more convenient—no smoking or vaping required.

That said, you need to understand CBD and THC have different effects, depending on where they're sourced. Both hemp and marijuana belong to the same species, Cannabis sativa, and the two plants are pretty much look-alikes. It’s where you source your gummies that counts.

The source will determine whether your CBD and THC gummies have therapeutic or mood-altering benefits and whether they make you high or very, very much so.

THC Gummies vs CBD Gummies

If you’ve ever tried a weed gummy, you’ll have seen both THC and CBD gummies. These are the two most readily available cannabinoids on the market.

Now get this. While THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is a psychoactive cannabinoid that can make you spiral into euphoric and intoxicated states, CBD (cannabidiol) is non-intoxicating.

The same goes for THC and CBD gummies. THC gummies contain up to 20% of THC and can give you that intense experience similar to being stoned. However, they can also give you unwanted symptoms, such as hard-to-follow thoughts and a dry mouth.

If you're after beneficial bites without many of the side effects, CBD gummies are your thing. They contain 0.3% THC and are much more mellow and better tolerated.

Now, let’s explore more. We’ll look at the weed gummies’ benefits and safety aspects, and where to look for the best gummies on the market.

Benefits of Edibles And Weed Gummies

The internet is rife with over-the-top claims of cannabis products supposedly treating depression, arthritis, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

But here at Dad Grass, we cut the BS and get straight to the point, providing only research-backed information.

CBD gummies can be a relatively non-toxic way to deal with insomnia, anxiety, and chronic pain. And while research on cannabis products is limited, their therapeutic effects are promising.

Cannabinoids work by targeting receptors in your body:

  • CB1 receptors, which are found primarily in the brain. They work to help you cool off and relax.
  • CB2 receptors, which are mainly found in the immune system and are therefore responsible for immunomodulatory and other possible therapeutic effects of cannabinoids, such as reducing inflammation.

Below you’ll find CBD gummies’ benefits gathered from trustworthy sources.

Relaxation and Anxiety Relief

An atmospheric night shot of a cafe with “relax” sign reflected in the window

The idea that weed edibles can mitigate anxiety has caught on, attracting many clinical trials exploring this idea’s validity.

As mentioned before, edibles and other forms of cannabis contain THC, a chemical that makes you feel relaxed and sometimes hyped up.

However, daily use of cannabis high in THC can increase anxiety symptoms.

That said, edibles with lower THC concentrations, and rich in helpful cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, and CBN can produce anxiety relief.

But even though there are promising therapeutic benefits of CBD in terms of tapering anxiety and insomnia symptoms, more research is needed to confirm its potential medicinal use.

Research on CB1R cannabinoid receptors and greater insight into the endocannabinoid system offers hope. It opens the gateway to possible future treatment of neuropsychological and neurodegenerative diseases.

Muscle Spasm Control

Medicinal cannabis has been most widely advised to patients suffering from pain and muscle spasms.

According to several randomized controlled trials, certain cannabinoids helped alleviate spasticity issues in MS patients. Not to get too caught up with the medical jargon, spasticity is an often painful condition that increases muscle tone and stiffness and can also interfere with muscle control.

Further research has found that an oral cannabis extract and orally administered THC can help reduce patient-reported spasticity scores in patients with MS.

These may suggest that other types of edibles may have similar effects, yet more research is needed to draw more definite concussions.

Pain Relief

There are indications that CBD and other cannabinoids may also work as neuropathic and inflammatory pain relievers.

There’s moderate research evidence that supports cannabinoid treatment of chronic pain. Harvard Health website cites an animal study that shows promising results in relieving arthritis-induced inflammatory pain.

“Further human studies are needed to substantiate claims that CBD helps control pain. One animal study from the European Journal of Pain suggests CBD could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis when applied to skin.”

However, most studies and clinical trials involved using cannabis in flower form, administered through vaporizing or smoking.

The advantages of edibles are yet to be fully grasped, especially the more prolonged analgesic effects compared to smoked cannabis—which has been a focus of a recent laboratory study.

This gives hope for the medicinal use of CBD-infused products, especially CBD edibles for pain relief.

Antiseizure Effects

Scientific evidence suggests that CBD and THC can hold treatment potential for epilepsy and seizures.

While any claims of cannabinoid seizure-related benefits were previously based on anecdotal evidence, the early 1970s opened the door for the first scientific studies.

However, back then, researchers were only experimenting with the route of CBD administration and the doses—so research was inconclusive.

Fast forward to the 1980s, a small clinical trial saw promising effects of CBD for patients with epilepsy. The trial reported a reduction in seizure frequency in 7 of 8 patients taking CBD, compared with 1 of 8 taking a placebo.

Following recent trials of cannabidiol, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Epidiolex to treat seizures in Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.

However, as far as edibles are concerned, more research is necessary before confirming the effectiveness of medical use.

Addiction Management

There’s reason to believe CBD can help lower cravings for addictive substances, as some human studies imply. Some animal studies suggest that CBD may help addicts wean off alcohol, cannabis, opiates, and stimulants.

A 2015 study reported the beneficial effects of non-psychoactive cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, and CBN on treating nicotine and cannabis addiction.

And here’s the best part. CBD holds promise for easing the damage to the brain’s neurotransmitters in people suffering from alcohol or narcotic addiction.
So, if sober-conscious, consider switching to CBD as it’s a much safer and well-tolerated alternative to cannabis. CBD can have potent effects on lowering cannabis withdrawal-related anxiety, as one study suggested. It can also alter specific dependence mechanisms in people dependent on cannabis.

Want To Know How To Take Gummies Safely? Read This First.

A close-up shot of a Cannabis sativa plant

If your goal with edibles is general maintenance of the body and mind, you don’t want to take a careless approach. A more serious systematic approach is needed but that’s also time-consuming—that’s why we’ll do the legwork for you.

This is where we delve deeper into how to use edibles safely. No fooling around. No wasting your time.

The thing with edibles is that the amount of THC in them is very challenging to measure, which means you never know what you’ll get. Put short; doses can be, well... unreliable.

This doesn’t quite give you control over your “highs.”

Furthermore, when you ingest cannabinoids, you’ll have a delayed onset of the drug effect, so taking more to compensate for the “lack of immediate effect” is not recommended.

This can be a slippery slope as you can ingest a greater than intended amount even before the effects kick in, leading to profoundly adverse effects These span from mild effects to life-threatening conditions.

What’s most important here is to make the distinction between CBD and THC gummies. Regular use of edibles containing high levels of THC (THC gummies included) can lead to more serious adverse effects such as:

  • Panic attacks
  • Dependence
  • Impaired motor ability
  • Hallucinations
  • Relapse of depression and anxiety episodes
  • Accidental falls

That said, hemp-derived CBD gummies and CBD, CBG, and CBN products are safer to take. Why, you ask?

They don't contain high amounts of the intoxicating THC and are much more mellow. CBD, CBG, and CBN are federally legal when derived from the hemp plant. And the best part? They come without sketchy doses and unpredictable highs.

Hemp-derived CBD regulations are more strict and straightforward, and adverse effects, although possible, are far less common and less intrusive.

Although non-addictive and non-psychoactive, below are the mild side effects you can expect from CBD gummies:

  • Drowsiness
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Reduced appetite
  • Dry mouth

If you’re taking benzodiazepines, opioids, antihistamines, or antidepressants, consult your doctor before considering edibles. When mixed with cannabinoids, these can cause increased fatigue, sleepiness, and possibly car accidents or accidental falls.

Also, store your edibles out of reach of children and pets (think lockboxes).

Edibles might be a good choice for first-time cannabinoid users—they require a longer time to absorb and are less likely to produce a high-concentration peak.

What To Consider Before Buying Your First CBD Gummies?

As we already said, choosing good-quality gummies is challenging. With online shops that sell gummies popping up like mushrooms nowadays, your chances of finding the best product only get slimmer.

You never know what will crop up after you type “CBD gummies,”  “THC gummies,” or “buy CBD oil.” into your search engine. There's every reason to be skeptical about the quality of these products.

Yet here at Dad Grass, we understand this is a pure inconvenience. So aside from bringing the world some laughs and grass, we also love digesting the info for you (pun intended). This way, you can make informed decisions about what you’ll allow into your system.

The criteria below will help you get your hands on the good stuff.

Third-Party Laboratory Testing

The first thing to look for when choosing edibles is whether a brand holds any third-hand certifications.

What needs to concern you most is the safety of the product you’re about to ingest. So, first, eliminate all brands that don’t hold third-hand certifications.

Next, you want to know exactly what you’re getting for your money. Third-party lab testing can ensure the safety, purity, and potency of CBD gummies and THC Delta 8 gummies (if they are your choice).

The so-called Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a certificate from the same independent third-party labs that test the marijuana products you find in dispensaries.

Some reliable businesses in the edibles space use third-party testing to assess gummies on heavy metals, microbes, pesticides, and other harmful ingredients.

Hemp Quality

When it comes to your wellness ritual, your mind and body only deserve what’s best. That said, steer clear of dubious quality edibles. Products labeled hemp or CBD may contain harmful ingredients, such as THC, pesticides, and heavy metals.

When sprayed onto the hemp, these chemicals get absorbed into the plant and can end up in the final product.

Only a high-quality edible should make it onto your list. So, look for the best brands that use only organic, high-quality USA-grown hemp and practice sustainable farming practices. A brand can be trusted only if it’s respectful of its customers’ health and the environment.

Extraction Methods

Poor extraction methods can result in a subpar product. So, when reviewing your options, make sure the brand you choose uses the best extraction methods.

That way, you’ll ensure you’re getting a product that yields beneficial results every time. You want only premium, freshly-squeezed CBD extract in your gummies.

The more chemicals are derived from the products, the cleaner and healthier the product is. Therefore, it’s important that the brand offers transparent lab reports so you can review them at any time.

Customer Service

If you’re looking for CBD or THC gummies, what counts as well is that the brand stays caught up with its customer service.

When shopping online, the website experience is paramount. The last thing you want is to have to do the guesswork about any aspect of the product you’re buying.

A website selling cannabinoid products should offer reliable information and have a user-friendly, easy-to-navigate user interface. Also, a quality website will provide you with the following:

  • Sufficient information on weed edible topics (so that you can make informed buying decisions)
  • Excellent customer service that will give quick answers
  • Fair shipping and refund policies (so you can shop for your gummies with confidence)

User Testimonials

Nothing beats good ol’ word-of-mouth marketing. And now, in the online world, it’s never been easier to peek at what others say about a product or brand.

Seeing a weed gummy product from the buyers’ vantage point gives you that extra peace of mind that what you’re getting is worth it.

Good customer reviews will give you a hint that you’re getting your stuff from a reputable brand, as well as how stuff works, feels, tastes, or smells.

What Makes Dad Grass Gummies Stand Out?

Dad Grass is a dependable CBD gummies vendor that brings certified 100% organic USA-grown hemp to users online.

We like to say our gummies are easy and dependable, not fancy or complicated—like everything else we do. Yet we made it our challenge to test hundreds of gummies to create our own, molded to your liking and our satisfaction. We even mixed some with tinctures.

Our specialty is arriving at the most delicious fruity CBD gummies and a perfectly balanced edibles formula. Meaning no more endless waiting for the gummy to kick in but also no more couch-locked episodes.

But there’s much more to what we do, which we’re going to look at next.

The Quality of Dad Grass Gummies

When reviewing your options, you want high-quality hemp products that will yield the best possible beneficial results. A good gummy will not only leave you feeling great, but it won’t leave you short of potent health benefits.

You need a brand that creates CBD products that you can take full advantage of. Sounds good. But how do we do this?

Here at Dad Grass, we use full-spectrum hemp, meaning our CBD products are rich in all the beneficial compounds found in the cannabis plant—cannabinoids, terpenes, esters, and flavonoids.

Dad Grass Gummies Transparency

When it comes to weed edibles, transparency is an absolute must-have. You don’t want to eat the first weed gummy you come across, but with the market increasing so rapidly, if you’re not careful, you might end up with a low-quality gummy containing funky substances.

Another concern is consistent dosing. With transparent brands being few and far between, this might be a problem. Only stick with brands that stay transparent.

You want to know what’s inside those delicious gummies, so it’s best to have it all spelled out for you. That said, we’re 100% transparent about what’s inside the Dad Grass yumminess.

Our product pages feature ingredient lists along with the recommended doses, the strength of THC in the products, and the serving sizes. That’s all you need to become resolute about whether our products are a good fit or not.

Dad Grass Gummies Production Methods & Ingredients

The number one safety tip for first-time CBD users is to search for the highest-quality ingredients. A Dad Grass gummy is made using Certified Organic ingredients and contains no harmful contaminants or artificial flavors.

So, how do our edibles look in the making? We begin by sourcing hemp from USDA Certified Organic farms. After hemp is hand-harvested, we use sustainable CBD extraction methods to get full-spectrum CBD oil.

Dad Grass Lab Testing Results

Third-party lab testing is not all about quality control; it’s also about having a safety measure that gives you a hint of how many gummies you should have for a great ride. Edibles are notorious for being too intense; getting them from unreliable sources doesn't help.

The point is you don’t want to consume gummies that contain more THC than advertised—especially if you have a poor THC tolerance.

When buying from Dad Grass, we provide the exact amount of THC advertised on the label, and we promise that it will be the dosage you have in the gummy.

That’s right; you’ll know precisely how much CBD you’re taking—per gummy.

Our gummies contain between .1  grams and .2  grams of hemp CBD per serving and never more than the federally legal amount of 0.3% THC.

We hold a Certificate of Analysis (COA) you can find by scanning the QR code on the gummy product label and on our website.

We’re also a proud holder of a 92 product rating on the Real Tested CBD website, an independent platform that rates CBD products in terms of quality, effectiveness, and potency.

How Long Do Edibles Stay In Your System?

A CBD or a THC gummy takes longer to kick in than a few puffs on a joint. The “high” can last up to 12 hours after ingesting. Notably, the residual effects can last up to 24 hours, extending into the next day.

For those new to edibles, the intoxicating effects will not kick in until after 30 minutes or up to two hours later. At the same time, you’ll feel the peak effects at about three to four hours after ingesting. The fact that THC has to travel through your stomach and liver before making it to your bloodstream makes the magic happen slower.

Dad Grass Classic Formula CBD Gummies

This differs from vaping or smoking, where the effects are felt within a few minutes and peak at about 30 minutes.

So, if it’s your first time taking edibles, you may want to wait until the first effects kick in without taking more to compensate. Because if you do, you can expect the side effects of over-intoxication. These include nausea and vomiting, psychosis episodes, or anxiety and panic attacks.

How Long Do Edibles Stay In Your System?

Regarding edibles, 10mg of thc gummies for beginners is often considered a standard dose. For beginners or those with low tolerance, however, a 10 mg THC gummy might produce pronounced effects. This could range from euphoria and relaxation to heightened sensory experiences.

Are CBD Gummies Legal?

The legality of CBD will depend on where it’s sourced from, and it ties back to the 2018 Farm Bill that made hemp legal throughout the US. As stated on the Harvard Health Publishing website:

“The Farm Bill removed all hemp-derived products, including CBD, from the Controlled Substances Act, which criminalizes the possession of drugs. In essence, this means that CBD is legal if it comes from hemp, but not if it comes from cannabis (marijuana) – even though it is the exact same molecule. Currently, many people obtain CBD online without a medical marijuana license, which is legal in most states.”

THC edibles, though, are technically only legal only in the eleven U.S. states that have legalized recreational cannabis, things are not that straightforward with CBD.
